EARTH DAY

April 25, 2023

Earth Day is one of our favorite celebrations of the year. It's a reminder to all of us to take action and protect our planet so that we can continue to enjoy the natural beauty of the great outdoors for years to come. At its core, Earth Day is about recognizing that we all have a role to play in protecting the planet and that even small actions can have a big impact.

How to be more sustainable while traveling:

  1. Say no to plastic, bring a reusable water bottle + bag. This helps refrain from using plastic bottles and bags when purchasing from stores and reduces your carbon footprint!
  2. Going on a hike or to the beach? Find and Pick up trash while you’re there! And DO NOT LITTER.
  3. Volunteer or give back the right way. Not only is volunteering a great way to give back, but it is also a fun new experience that you won’t forget from your travels! It is better to volunteer or give back to reputable local organizations or international groups that partner with them.
  4. Support the REAL local economy. Buy local, eat local, and stay in a local home rather than vacation homes like Airbnb and vrbo. These places are still homes to many people, you are guests there. We want to support the local economy as much as we can!

On Earth Day, we ran a partnered giveaway with @PNWCompas on our social media platforms to gather comments from fellow nature enthusiasts to see what they are doing in their communities to be more sustainable. We have pledged to plant a tree for each comment on that post up to 2,000 trees.

As a company of people who spend a lot of time outdoors, we know the importance of trees in our ecosystem. Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the air, which helps to reduce the impact of climate change. They also provide shelter and food for countless wildlife species, prevent soil erosion, and enhance air and water quality.

Our decision to plant trees is just one example of how companies can make a real difference in protecting our environment. By taking small steps like this, we can all work together to make a big impact and protect our planet for future generations of outdoor enthusiasts.

So, let's all take a moment to appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds us and commit to taking action to protect it. Whether it's by planting trees, reducing our carbon footprint, or promoting sustainable practices, every action counts. Let's work together to keep the great outdoors, well, great!
