WHAT PHOTOGRAPHERS SHOULD PACK ON TRIPS

Whether you do travel photography for work or are just hoping to get some really great pictures on your next trip, it’s important that you pack certain essentials to protect your camera and make sure you’re ready for every situation that might arise. Here are 7 items you want to add to your travel photography gear list for your next trip, and some tips on how to pack a camera bag.

1. LENSES

This probably goes without saying but it is worth mentioning anyway—be sure you pack a variety of lenses, especially when you have particular photos or subjects in mind. At the very least, make sure you have one short prime lens with you. If the whole point of your trip is to shoot photographs, consider packing all of your lenses. That way when you find the perfect shot, you won’t be without the proper lens.

2. TRIPOD

With the introduction of travel tripods, transporting a tripod is easier than ever. Whether you take your full-sized tripod or one meant for travel, be sure you have one with you for when you inevitably need it.

3. FILTERS

Make sure you bring a 10-stop ND filter and a polarizer, along with a step-down ring to allow you to attach these filters to smaller lenses as needed. If you find you have extra room in your luggage, consider bringing a larger variety of filters, but if nothing else, make sure you have these basics.

4. MEMORY CARDS

Decide how many memory cards you think you’ll need and then pack a few extras to account for any defects with the cards or just the genuine need for more space.

5. BATTERIES AND CHARGER

Do not leave home without extra batteries and a charger. And don’t just bring one backup—bring several extras to make sure you have enough battery power to shoot all day without charging if needed, just in case.

6. PLUG ADAPTERS

Whether it’s a cigarette lighter adapter, or one for another country, make sure you know the area where you’ll be traveling and the type of plugs you’ll have access to, and plan accordingly to avoid being stuck without a way to charge your equipment.

7. THE RIGHT BAG

Your equipment is only going to be as safe as the bag you carry it in, so make sure you choose something high-quality like the  WANDRD PRVKE series. These bags can be customized to accommodate not only your gear but also your laptop and a passport, while keeping everything easy to access as needed, making this the best camera bag for a travel photographer. Not to mention, The Photography Bundle comes with a removable Camera Cube you can take separately for those times you don’t want to carry all of your gear.
