The WANDRD DETOUR Hip Pack, together with the WANDRD Inflatable Camera Cube, has become one of the most important pieces of gear I own. I shoot major sporting events, and I genuinely can’t do my job without it.
It carries my essentials without the need to take my main backpack everywhere. Inside I keep a high-powered air blower to keep my camera gear dust-free, a spare battery, a 2nd prime lens to what I have on my camera (18mm or 40mm Zeiss Batis), media card waterproof clam case, a lens cloth, a few mints or some chewing gum to hide the coffee breath ha.
It means I can leave my backpack close by and move quickly with just the essentials. That’s invaluable when Im constantly moving around venues or working in busy environments.
I actually had my original DETOUR Hip Pack stolen recently, and I realised just how much I relied on it. I was lucky enough to find another one in Europe, and replacing it became a priority because it fills a role that nothing else in my kit quite does.
What I love most is the way it carries. It sits comfortably on your hip and stays out of the way while you’re working. If you’re moving through crowds you can slide it around behind you, and when you need something quickly it swings straight to the front for instant access. The shoulder strap takes most of the weight, while the waist strap simply keeps everything stable and secure.
For me, it’s become the perfect “dump pouch” for professional camera work. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone…
